Loukov: Hotels and Accommodations

Loukov is situated on a flat elevation on the right bank of the Jizera.

Culture

The Church of the Holy Trinity was built in its present Gothic-Renaissance form between 1610 and 1612. After a fire in 1819, it was restored in 1836; the Neo-Romanesque tower dates from this restoration. Inside, there is a pewter baptismal font dating from 1582. Next to the church, a Neo-Gothic tomb for the Princes of Rohan was established in 1824, while the former Šlik tomb had already been rebuilt, cleared, and prepared for the Rohans in 1822. The grounds of the Church of the Holy Trinity are listed as a cultural monument within the Loukov Village Heritage Zone. The long-distance Greenway Jizera cycle route also passes by the church.

Loukov’s preserved urban layout is regarded as a remnant of the medieval settlement. The historic village center forms the Loukov Village Heritage Zone, registered under ÚSKP number 2226. It is characterized mainly by timber-framed houses, timber-framed granaries, and other farm buildings. Most of the surviving timber-framed buildings date from the second half of the 18th century to the beginning of the 19th century. The village landscape also includes the Šonských Farm at House No. 27 with a timber-framed granary. The statue of Saint John of Nepomuk is a Baroque work dating from 1719. The Bažantnice hunting lodge at House No. 37 is one of the area’s immovable cultural monuments.

Nature

The Bažantnice u Loukova Nature Reserve lies within the municipality of Loukov. In the nearby area, west of Loukov in the direction of Hubálov, a small pseudokarst cave is located in the right rocky valley slope of the Jizera. The nearby cave contains sinter curtains formed by seepage water.

Transport and Trails

Loukov has public rail and bus transport. Rail access is provided via Loukov u Mnichova Hradiště railway station; three bus stops serve the built-up area. At Březina nad Jizerou railway station, the green-marked hiking trail connects to blue and yellow trails in the direction of Drábské světničky. Another green-marked hiking trail leads from Mnichovo Hradiště to Březina nad Jizerou railway station.
