Makotřasy: Hotels and Accommodations

The history of Makotřasy includes archaeological remains providing evidence of the earliest metallurgy in the territory of the Czech Republic, including copper smelting. At the Na ostrově archaeological site, there is a flat settlement and a square enclosure.

History and Culture

The fortress of Makotřasy was first mentioned in 1379. It had a square ground plan, a surrounding defensive wall, and a cylindrical tower in the courtyard. The remains of the fortress are located in the northwestern part of the municipality. The local history also includes the Makotřasy war memorial to those who fell in the First World War, which was unveiled on September 27, 1925.

Landscape and Trails

Makotřasy lies in an open valley on the Lidický potok stream. Koníčkův mlýn is a mill on the eastern edge of Makotřasy on the Lidický potok. The Sedlička hill [Středokluky] is located nearby.

Two designated cycling routes pass through the municipality: Cycle Route 0018 from Okoř to Družec runs through the northern part of Makotřasy. The Green Route from Okoř via Buštěhrad, Lidice, Makotřasy, and Středokluky to Tuchoměřice also passes through Makotřasy.

Surroundings

The Stará kanalizační čistírna Praha-Bubeneč Museum and the Letohrádek královny Anny palace are located in the vicinity of Makotřasy. In the wider regional area are the Galerie Rudolfinum Museum, Palác Kinských, Střelecký ostrov, Slovanský ostrov, and Velké Benátky.
