Němčice combines visible evidence of the town’s history with forests, a marked hiking trail, and recurring events. Even in the centre, you will encounter several tangible traces from different centuries.

Culture and History

In the centre of Němčice stands a statue of the Virgin Mary, erected in 1890. The village is also home to a memorial to those who fell in the First World War, which was unveiled on 18 September 1921. It was created by the sculptor Václav Drobník from Kolín.

The history of the village also includes a wooden bell tower: until 1919, it stood at the site of the present-day bus shelter before being moved in 1921 to its current location in the village centre. A wooden cross on the road towards Býchory bears a depiction of the Crucifixion dating from 1898 and was recently restored. A memorial house in Němčice dates from 1612. As early as 1445, a manor house or fortress owned by Jan z Němčic stood there.

Nature and Trails

The forests around Němčice are visited every year by mushroom pickers from the wider surrounding area. A marked hiking trail also passes through the surroundings of Němčice. Fishing cards and fishing permits are sold on weekdays at the Němčice municipal office.

Němčice has a good bus connection with nearby Býchory. This connection is just as much part of the local setting as the road towards Býchory, where the restored wooden cross stands.

Events

The Němčická pouť is a recurring public event featuring fairground attractions, a football tournament, and dance events.
