Nizbor: Hotels and accommodations

Nižbor Castle was built in the mid-13th century on a rocky promontory above the confluence of the Berounka and the Habrový potok stream. It is an immovable cultural monument; King Přemysl Otakar II is considered a possible builder.

Celtic History

The Information Centre of Celtic Culture at Nižbor Castle is open every year from May to November. Through multimedia projections, it presents the Celts’ migrations across Europe, their religion, craftsmanship and everyday life.

In the area around the Celtic oppidum of Stradonice, Celtic settlement shaped the region around 500 BC. The oppidum was probably an important centre of trade and production in Central Europe at the time. It covered approximately 90.3 hectares; the area was presumably divided into an acropolis and an outer bailey. The remains of the fortifications, which were rebuilt twice, have survived only fragmentarily.

Glassmaking at Rückl

The entire Rückl glassworks site is accessible without barriers. Guided tours showcase individual production processes and traditional glassmaking techniques. At Rückl, you can purchase an experience at the glassworks or try glass cutting in the factory shop.

Nature and Trails

Part of the municipality of Nižbor lies within the Křivoklátsko Protected Landscape Area. A red-marked hiking trail leads from Beroun via Zdejcina, Stradonice and Nižbor to Roztoky and Křivoklát.
