Odřepsy: Hotels and Accommodation

The Oškobrh-Hřebínek area is an important archaeological site; its designated cadastral area also includes Odřepsy. The archaeological heritage area comprises two hillforts and an abandoned medieval village. The remains of the former Church of St Peter and Paul are located in the Kostelík section of this site.

Culture and History

Odřepsy is documented in local chronicles as early as 1227 and later belonged to the estate of Prague’s St George’s Convent. In 1437, Emperor Sigismund transferred Odřepsy to the nobleman Jiřík of Poděbrady.

The historic Sánský Canal was built around 1450 to divert water from the Cidlina to the Poděbrady ponds, runs through Odřepsy, and has survived to this day. Next to the former school building in Odřepsy stands an iron cross on a square base dating from 1864.

Nature and Terrain

The Oškobrh geological site is a distinctive ridge featuring a succession of Cretaceous rocks; its summit, Hřebínek, reaches 285.7 metres. The natural monument protects a population of the European stag beetle (Lucanus cervus) and its habitat. Its protected area also includes exposed marl outcrops.

The geological site lies in open terrain without a path and is more than 250 metres from the road.

Further Local Details

Away from the built-up part of the village, a hunting lodge with a game enclosure is located in the cadastral area of Odřepsy; mouflon are kept there.
