Olešná: Hotels and Accommodation

Olešná is listed as a protected heritage zone under ÚSKP number 2218. Numerous half-timbered and solid-construction buildings stand around the approximately oval village green. The listed Novákův statek complex is also located on an old Bohemian village meadow in the landscape of the central Brdy Mountains.

Nature

In 1848, four lime trees were planted around the local bell tower to commemorate the abolition of corvée labor; since 2009, they have been designated as protected memorial trees. In the area around Olešná, the meadows are regularly grazed, while the fields are planted with various crops each year.

Hořovicko lies between Central Bohemia and the Brdy landscape and has marked hiking and cycling trails extending from Křivoklátsko to the Brdy peaks.

The 17 km hiking route “Za podbrdskými roubenkami” leads to Olešná and its village heritage zone. The route has a difficulty rating of 5/5; large sections run along unmarked paths and require good orientation in the terrain.

Zvířátkov is an animal shelter and zoo park in Olešná near Hořovice. Visitors can visit Zvířátkov, buy an admission ticket for the zoo park, choose an animal to adopt, and then continue visiting it.

History

In the Olešná area, there is a 1.5 km-long forest section of the disused Stroussberg Railway, which is among the best-preserved sections of the line. Clearly recognizable sleeper depressions have been preserved in this forest section; they demonstrate that the line was operational between 1871 and 1875.
