Podluhy: Hotels and Accommodation

Podluhy lies on both banks of the Podlužský potok and was founded in 1331 at the foot of the Brdy forests. The stream was known as the Kuňatka at the time and is now called the Podlužský potok.

Culture

On the hill above Podluhy, the site of a former fortress is still known by the name “Na rumech”. In the 15th century, a new fortress with a brewery was built in Podluhy; it has not survived. The Dvůr that still stands today belonged to the Hořovice estate.

The village landscape includes two irregularly shaped traditional village greens. One is located near the old chapel dedicated to Saint Florian; the other is in the upper part of the village and is called “Draha”.

Historically, the main livelihoods in Podluhy included forestry, small-scale farming and livestock breeding. Later, charcoal production was introduced in Podluhy, and the charcoal was used by the developing ironworking industry.

Nature

Podluhy is visited as a place for recreation and permanent stays, as well as for mushroom picking, gathering forest fruits and enjoying pleasant walks in the surrounding woods. In the vicinity of Podluhy, the temporary pools in Hrachoviště, created through the use of military equipment, provide unique living conditions for several endangered animal species, including the yellow-bellied toad, the summer tadpole shrimp and the summer fairy shrimp.

Geographical Location

At the Podluhy, Na Drahách bus stop, the Lochovická TŘICÍTKA route continues to the right on cycle path 0006A. An alternative access route to Hrachoviště leads from Podluhy; the distance is approximately 3 km.
