Řevničov's history begins with a foundation charter from the 14th century. The town was founded on the basis of a foundation charter signed by John of Luxembourg on November 4, 1325, in Münnerstadt, Bavaria.

Culture and Local History

The Church of St. Peter and Paul in Řevničov is first mentioned in 1352 and was later rebuilt in the late Baroque style. Řevničov's historic village square has been preserved to this day. The Chapel of St. Anne dates from 1830. Another notable building is Olič Villa (House No. 138), an architecturally interesting structure built from hand-worked Džbán marlstone.

The local festival calendar is also connected with the history of the town: Řevničovské posvícení always takes place on the third Sunday in October. Řevničovská pouť is celebrated on the feast of Saints Peter and Paul.

Nature and Hiking

The Prameny Klíčavy Nature Reserve is located 500 meters south of Řevničov railway station. A hike from Řevničov railway station to Prameny Klíčavy and back follows marked hiking trails almost in its entirety and is 9 km long in total. Marked hiking trails also run through the area around Řevničov.

In Křivoklátsko, PR Prameny Klíčavy is the only bog-spring locality of its kind.

Cycling Routes

Cycling route 8192 is 20.6 km long and classified as easy. It ends at a trail junction below Malý Louštín in Řevničov. Marked cycling routes of regional importance also run through the area around Řevničov.

Transport in the Town

Railway line No. 120 between Prague and Rakovník runs through Řevničov; a railway station is located in the area of the Řevničov sawmill. Public transport in Řevničov comprises seven stops with service in both directions.
