Vrátkov: Hotels and accommodation

Vrátkov lies along several marked routes and at the same time in the surroundings of the Šembera Valley. As a result, specific routes, natural features and small historical landmarks come together here.

Routes

A tourist route and a cycle path run from Tismice via Vrátkov to the Šembera and onward to Tuchoraz. Cycle route 8206 also passes along the edge of Vrátkov on the Babice–Doubek–Zahrady route. A green-marked hiking trail connects Mrzky, Tismice, Vrátkov and Tuchoraz.

Nature

The recreational and tourist use of the area is primarily associated with the Šembera Valley. The Podviniční pond is located in this valley. The Vrátkov Ecocentre is surrounded by species-rich woodland and the floodplain of the Šembera stream.

The Vrátkov Ecocentre can be reached by car, bicycle and on foot. Those arriving on PID line 491 should get off at the Doubravčice, rozcestí Vrátkov stop and then walk approximately 800 metres along a forest path. Alternatively, line 435 runs between Český Brod and Říčany; from Vrátkov, a signposted forest path approximately 3 kilometres long leads to the Ecocentre.

Culture

The Vrátkov cross dates from 1874 and was erected at the expense of the married couple Václav and Kateřina Miškovských from Vrátkov. It stands north of the village on the road to Český Brod. The village also has a stone bell turret with an inscription stating that it was erected in 1820 at the expense of the honourable municipality of Wratkow.

Events

The “International Bat Night” was held at the Vrátkov Ecocentre on 31 August 2024 for the third time as a public educational event. It included information about bats, a presentation of live injured bats and an evening excursion with detectors to a nearby meadow.

On 21 September 2025, the Vrátkov Ecocentre held “Mushroom Day” as a guided forest walk with mycologist Michal Plundra. Edible, inedible and poisonous mushrooms were presented.
