Vrbová Lhota: Hotels and accommodations

Three gold coins are represented at the Vrbová Lhota archaeological site; their occurrence has so far been unparalleled in Central Bohemia.

Culture

The Chapel of Saint Wenceslas is one of Vrbová Lhota’s cultural monuments and dates from the 19th century. The Art Nouveau school building is also one of the village’s cultural monuments.

Archaeological work in the area between Radim, Pečky, Vrbová Lhota, Sokolče and farther on to Poděbrady uncovered stone tools indicating settlement at least since the Neolithic. The area around Vrbová Lhota also contains individual finds from the Roman period, as well as individual finds from a later Slavic settlement.

The Vrbová Lhota archaeological site is distinguished by an unusually high proportion of metal-casting activities. Vrbová Lhota is documented in writing as early as 1535. In 1502, beer was to be delivered from Poděbrady to the Lhota then known as Wrbová.

Landscape

Extensive gravel-sand and aeolian sand deposits are located north and northwest of Vrbová Lhota. Heavy soils lie east, south and partly west of the village, corresponding in many places to swamp-like conditions.

The historic Březenský Pond was supplied with water from the Výrovka River.

Cycling routes

Cycle Route No. 0125 connects Vrbová Lhota with Kouřim, while Cycle Route No. 0126 connects the village with Miškovice.
