In Blešno, the landscape on both banks of the Orlice belongs to the Orlice Nature Park. Within the river system of the Quiet, Wild and United Orlice, the nature park protects significant landscape, natural and aesthetic values.

Nature and River Landscape

In the wider region around Blešno, the Orlice protected area safeguards floodplain forests, willow scrub, river reeds, oxbow lakes, pools and species-rich meadows, including the United Orlice and its adjacent floodplain. The Orlice wetlands near Blešno lie on the left bank of the river and include remnants of former river channels as well as adjacent species-rich meadows.

Active Adventures

Ranč B offers trail rides for experienced riders as well as walks for complete beginners. The “Let’s Ride Together to Bethlehem” cycling tour between Hradec Králové and Třebechovice pod Orebem also passes through Blešno. The route is 14 km long, easy and suitable for trekking bikes.

The “Let’s Walk Together to Bethlehem” hiking route leads from Hradec Králové via the Orlice, Svinary and Blešno to Krňovice and Třebechovice pod Orebem.

Culture and History

The Chapel of the Heart of Jesus in Blešno is a pseudo-Romanesque brick chapel dating from 1913. It was built at the expense of the married couple V. and M. Bartoš from Blešno and has been protected as a cultural monument since 31 December 2015.

Near the municipal office, the Blešno war memorial stands beneath a centuries-old lime tree. The sculptor V. Škoda created it in 1923 in memory of ten victims of the First World War. After the end of the Second World War, the names of three further victims were added to the memorial.

Prehistoric settlement in the Blešno area is evidenced, among other things, by a pile-dwelling structure of the Bell Beaker culture near the Hodyc farmstead, house number 53; a copper axe was also found while digging a ditch.
