Kosičky: Hotels and Accommodation

Kosičky lies northeast of Chlumec nad Cidlinou on the right bank of the Bystřice. Třesický Pond covers 70 hectares and was created before 1467.

Nature

In the southern to western part of Třesický Pond, refuges with diverse stands of shoreline vegetation have been preserved. They provide a habitat for several specially protected bird species. The meadows around the pond regularly provide nesting grounds for the critically endangered black-tailed godwit (Limosa limosa) and the corn bunting (Miliaria calandra).

History

The medieval and modern-era centre of Kosičky is an area with documented or well-founded suspected archaeological finds. One specific find dates from 1936: during the repair of an arcaded passage, a coin hoard containing 171 coins from the time of George of Poděbrady and Vladislaus II was discovered in Kosičky.

Townscape

Farmstead No. 46 in Kosičky is a preserved, high-quality example of a small agricultural farmstead from the second half of the 19th century. It was further remodelled at the beginning of the 20th century; it survives as a unified ensemble with a consistent façade design.

At the former site of Svatojánské lázně, there is a spring that remains accessible. Hrázka in Luhy is documented as the last surviving mill on the Bystřice. Until the end of the 19th century, three wooden mills stood on the Bystřice in Kosičky: Divoký, Na hrázi and U mostku.

For a 7.7-kilometre route from Kosičky via the Písníky and Třesický Pond to Obědovice, described for weekdays, connections from Hradec Králové to Kosičky or to Písník were scheduled at 6:50 and 11:20.
