Radostov: Hotels and Accommodation

The former fortress of Radostov consisted of a raised central hill surrounded by a moat and an embankment.

History and Townscape

A former medieval manor house was located in the floodplain of the Radostovský potok immediately south of the present-day centre of Radostov. Based on the finds, its period of use can be dated to between the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries and the end of the 15th century. It was built in two partially overlapping construction phases.

In 1395, Aldyk de Radostow is mentioned as the owner of the village of Starý Radostov.

The fire station building is located in the centre of Radostov; it has a bell tower on top. Radostov also has a stone cross dating from 1887.

The mill now known as “Mlýnek” is marked on older maps under the names “Radostovský mlýn” and “Radostower Mühle”. Hunting lodge No. 47 belongs to the Myslivecký spolek Libčanská dubina, which maintains it.

Settlement Structure, Water and Landscape

Starý Radostov forms the western part of the settlement, while Nový Radostov lies in the eastern part. The Radostovský potok separates Starý Radostov and Nový Radostov and is one of the water bodies in Radostov. These also include two ponds intended for private fish farming and a firewater reservoir.

In addition to their economic and recreational functions, the water bodies in Radostov also serve a retention function. To this day, forests surround Radostov on three sides.

There are no dedicated traffic facilities for cycling in Radostov.

Routes

The “Královéhradecký okruh na koni” passes through Radostov to Hrádek u Nechanic Chateau.

In the surrounding area, the 28.1 km-long Hradecko cycling route “Proti proudu času” passes through Radíkovice and Těchlovice and includes Hrádek u Nechanic.
