Bukvice: Hotels and Accommodation

Bukvice lies on the southern slope of the Velišský hřbet. The landscape around the village is characterised by fields, meadows, hills and forests. From Bukvice (318 m above sea level) and Křelina (368 m above sea level), there are views of the Český ráj panorama with the Prachovské skály, as well as of the landscape that gradually transitions into the Polabská nížina.

Nature

The field paths between Bukvice and Křelina are suitable for cycling, among other activities. The Bukvice–Křelina field path project connects Bukvice with the cadastral area of Nadslav. A yellow-marked hiking trail also runs along the HC1 field path.

History

The first written mention of Bukvice appears in a royal charter issued by John of Luxembourg on 12 March 1327. The village is home to the Baroque Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk, dating from 1767. On the village square there is a Calvary group from 1740, while at the other end of the village stands a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk from 1765.

Culture

In 2004, the married couple Eva and Jiří Valter opened the “Na Špejcharu” Gallery in their weekend house. The gallery operators make the attic available to other artists. The tourist information centre in Bukvice offers quests by Mariánská zahrada, including “A Walk among the Forest Chapels of Mariánská zahrada”.
