In Sběř, natural surroundings, cultural history, and local life come together. The village and its surrounding area reveal a variety of facets through specific landscape features, historical landmarks, and public facilities.

Nature and Landscape

Sběřský rybník pond forms a local biocentre in the cadastral area of Sběř on the Kozojedský potok stream, with distinctive aquatic and waterside communities on a wet meadow. At the same time, it is the most significant body of water in the Sběř planning area.

The natural area also includes the “Javorka a Cidlina – Sběř” nature monument. It covers 272.8765 ha and was first designated on 9 June 2014.

Culture and History

The Church of the Assumption of Our Lady in Velešice is a registered immovable cultural monument in the Sběř area. It was built before 1355; its presbytery was rebuilt in 1581, and its nave was constructed in 1611 by Jan Baptista Vlach. The church contains historic sandstone and marble epitaphs, including one with the mortal remains of Mikuláš Bořek Dohalský z Dohalic.

Sběř is also home to a registered column with a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk. The remains of the embankment of the former Smidary–Vysoké Veselí railway line have also survived and are still visible; trains operated there from 1881 to 1976.

Paths and Local Facilities

The marked Češov–Vysoké Veselí educational trail passes through Sběř and Velešice. IREDO buses operate in the Sběř area; connections to Jičín and Vysoké Veselí are available.

The local Sběř public library regularly supplements and renews its permanent book collection with books from the exchange collection of the Václav Čtvrtek Library in Jičín.

Events

Summer cinema screenings took place in Sběř in 2024 and 2025; another such screening has been announced for 2026.
