Drevenice: Hotels and accommodation

Dřevěnice combines cultural and historical landmarks with the Volejbalová Dřevěnice volleyball tournament, which has been held continuously since its first tournament on 15 August 1954. The volleyball complex has ten sand courts, five of them floodlit, as well as two beach volleyball courts.

Culture

In Dřevěnice, the chapel with the statue of Saint John of Nepomuk is registered as an immovable cultural monument under registration number 106421. The early Baroque statue of Our Lady Victorious dates from 1626 and, following its restoration in 1988, was placed beneath the bell tower. On the road to Radim stands the statue of Saint Wenceslas, erected in 1735.

West of Dřevěnice Fortress stands the former malt house of the Kumburk brewery. It bears a Šternberk coat of arms and has a wooden portal bearing the year 1678. In the centre of the village stands the statue of the Holy Trinity; a stone cross was erected at the crossroads to Dolánky in 1862.

Landscape

Dřevěnice lies in an attractive foothill valley, whose stream separates the flat landscape of the Jičín region from the wooded hills of the Nová Paka region. Geomorphologically, the village lies on the boundary between the Krkonoše-Jeseník Subprovince and the Bohemian Table.

The mountains of Maxinec (MLázovický chlum), Tábor, Přivýšina and Střelečská hůra lie in the vicinity of Dřevěnice. In the wider regional surroundings of Dřevěnice are the churches of Valdštejn and Lázně.
