Staré Místo is located in the Jičín District in the Hradec Králové Region, approximately 4 km south of Jičín.
Geographical Setting
Staré Místo lies in the Východopolabská tabule and in the southern part of the Jičínská pahorkatina. Geologically, the area belongs to the Bohemian Cretaceous Basin, dating from the Mesozoic Era, specifically the Cretaceous period. The surroundings of the municipality are gently undulating.
Culture and History
The town of Jičín originally stood on the site of present-day Staré Místo. Written records mention present-day Staré Místo as early as 1327 under the name “Antiquum Gytschin”. In the Jičín town books, the area was still referred to as “Antiquum Gitschin” in the second half of the 15th century; by that time, the new name Staré Místo was already becoming established.
The branch church of “Kostel sv. Františka z Assisi (Serafínského)” is a Gothic building dating from the end of the 13th century and a registered immovable cultural monument. Near the church stands a statue of Saint Florian, the patron saint of firefighters. No marked tourist trail runs by the church.

Road I/32 runs through Staré Místo. Bus routes provide transport connections to Staré Místo. There is a roadside restaurant in Staré Místo.
