Volanice: Hotels and accommodations

In Volanice, the bell tower and the cross form a protected heritage ensemble. The historic townscape also includes the Baroque chateau, built around 1780 next to the farmstead—probably on the site of an earlier fortress.

History

The first written mention of Volanice dates from 1325; at that time, Stojislav z Volanic lived there. The Volanský family owned the freehold estate in Volanice until 1631. The name Volanice and the Volanka stream preserve the connection to the historic Volanský family.

Buildings and remembrance

The chateau in Volanice has survived to this day almost in its original form and is currently privately owned. It features reused Baroque caryatids from the former Jesuit residence in Sběř. A monument to the fallen of the First World War stands beside the cemetery. Volanice also has several log houses.

Landscape and trails

On its return route from Vysoké Veselí to Češov, the Češov–Vysoké Veselí educational trail passes through Volanice. Mount Maxinec (MLázovický chlum) is located in the vicinity of Volanice. Mount Kamenec and Mount U Borku [Záhornice u Městce Králové] are also nearby. Mount Přivýšina lies in the wider regional surroundings of Volanice.

Notes and dates

Only local fishing permits are valid at the Volanice fishing grounds. During Putování po stezce on July 18, 2026, Volanice was a checkpoint; the Schpejchar is listed as the location.
