Rybník Zrcadlo is located in the eastern part of Mlýnec. It is known among locals and visitors for its size and its diverse aquatic and birdlife.

The cadastral area of Mlýnec u Kopidlina lies within the Dymokursko Natura 2000 site of European importance. Dymokursko comprises a very well-preserved complex of deciduous forests, wet meadows, and aquatic ecosystems.

The cadastral area of Mlýnec u Kopidlina also lies within the Rožďalovické rybníky bird protection zone. This zone protects populations and habitats of the western marsh harrier and the crane; as a bird protection area, it is an important migration area for waterbirds and birds of prey, with up to 3,000–4,000 individuals.

The local paths are suitable destinations for walks and bike rides. A yellow-marked hiking trail leads from Mlýnec railway station through the local forests to Bučický rybník.

There is a chapel southwest of Mlýnec.

The cadastral area of Mlýnec is a polycultural archaeological site with finds dating from the Linear Pottery culture to the modern period. Near the Mrlina River, traces of prehistoric, early medieval, and high medieval settlements have been identified in the cadastral areas of Kopidlno and Mlýnec.

Getting there

Mlýnec railway station is served by line 061 between Nymburk and Jičín. It is located approximately 650 meters from the town center and is connected to the town by a paved footpath.
