Střevač: Hotels and accommodations

Střevač lies between two elongated ridges. The northern ridge, covered with coniferous trees, is crisscrossed by hiking trails. In the eastern part of the administrative area, the Baroque-designed landscape of Mariánská zahrada extends across the settlements of Střevač, Nadslav and Štidla.

Culture and history

Střevač was elevated to the status of a market town again in 1896. The Baroque granary in Střevač was built in 1690 from stone taken from the original fortress, which was demolished at that time. The Baroque column with the statue of the Immaculate Conception dates from 1754 and is protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic. Also dating from 1754 is the late Baroque Calvary ensemble in Střevač, located opposite the municipal office and protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic. The Baroque granary on the southern edge of Střevač is likewise protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic.

The area was designated as the Štidla village heritage zone by Decree No. 413/2004 Coll. of the Czech Ministry of Culture dated 24 June 2004; the designation has been effective since 1 January 2005. The village square in Štidla features a late Baroque statue of the Crucifixion from 1780, which is considered a cultural monument of regional importance. The rural farmstead No. 8 in Štidla is a preserved agricultural complex dating from around the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries, with its original structural arrangement.

Nadslav is home to the single-nave Gothic Church of Saint Procopius. It has a cemetery enclosed by a stone wall and a wooden bell tower from the 19th century; it has been protected as a cultural monument since 1964.

Nature and landscape

The Mordýř pond and the adjacent wet meadows provide a habitat for fire-bellied toads and other amphibians. The Nadslav Nature Monument protects the habitat of the critically endangered fire-bellied toad (Bombina bombina).

Geographical location

The eastern and northern parts of the Střevač municipal area lie within the Český ráj UNESCO Geopark. Its boundary follows Class II and III roads that run through Střevač, Nadslav and Štidla. Střevač is served by bus connections and by roads running through the municipal area.
