Údrnice: Hotels and Accommodation

West of and above the western edge of Údrnice, the archaeological site of Zlivštejn, also known as Hrádek, has been preserved as an almost circular central hill surrounded by a moat and an embankment up to 3 metres high. Zlivštejn, also known as Hrádek, is an exceptionally well-preserved manor estate of a type between a fortified manor house and a castle.

Location and Landscape

Údrnice lies in the south-western part of the Jičín Region in a flat valley protected to the east and north-east by the gentle hill of Na Vrchách.

North of Údrnice, the historic Plužina field system is being reconstructed. It consists of long, narrow fields that were originally medieval, follow the shape of the slope and remain an important element of erosion control to this day.

The mountains of Přivýšina, Střelečská hůra and U Borku [Záhornice u Městce Králové] are located in the surroundings of Údrnice. In the wider regional area are Mount Tábor and Valdštejn Church.

History and Local Culture

The centre of Údrnice has been located in the area of St. Martin's Church since the 9th century. St. Martin's Church in Údrnice is protected as a historic monument; its register number is 23855/6-1419. The foundations of the parish Church of St. Martin in Údrnice were laid at the beginning of the second half of the 14th century.

Flax was traditionally processed and linen produced in Údrnice. Local customs maintained over generations included wedding and baptismal traditions.

Leisure and Events

Údrnice has a playground, a children's playground and a swimming pool for leisure activities. International cycle route No. 14 (Berlin–Prague) runs through the village; it is marked both in the terrain and on maps.

The Údrnice Summer Christmas Markets are scheduled for 22 August 2026 from 4 p.m. at the Cultural Centre in Údrnice.
