Zámezí’s local connection extends from memorial sites dating back to 1866 to mountains and churches in its immediate and wider surroundings.

History and Remembrance

The Boží muka wayside shrine stands on Valchovská stráň. In 1866, it became a memorial tomb for many soldiers of the Imperial-Royal 18th Infantry Regiment who fell during the attack on Zámezí.

Another site of remembrance is Station No. 11 Zámezí on the educational trail „Battle of Jičín, 29 June 1866“. It received a new information board in 2023.

In Železnice, the „War of 1866“ exhibition at the Vlastivědné muzeum a galerie v Železnici displays objects from both sides of the conflict, numerous finds from the battlefield, a map of the battlefield, and photographs of war memorials in Železnice and the surrounding area.

Nature and Mountains

Železnice lies on the edge of the CHKO Český Ráj and is an ideal starting point for tourist trails. The Prachovské skály can be visited within a 10 km radius of Železnice.

Přivýšina is a mountain in the immediate vicinity of Zámezí, as is Tábor. Střelečská hůra is a mountain in the surroundings of Zámezí; Maxinec (MLázovický chlum), also a mountain, is located there as well.
