Machov: Hotels and Accommodation

Machov lies in the heart of the Broumov Walls and is a centre for recreation, tourism and sports, with cross-border trails, a distinctive landscape and historic buildings.

Trails and Borders

The yellow-marked Machov–Bledne-Skaly trail is 4 km long and has an elevation gain of almost 400 metres. It crosses the state border into Poland and runs through both Czech and Polish territory. In the final section, stone steps carved into the sandstone of Mount Bor lead to the entrance of the rock labyrinth.

Machov is a hub for international hiking, skiing and cycling trails. There are also two tourist border crossings to Poland here, which operate year-round.

Nature

The Borský Ridge offers views of the nearby panorama of the Krkonoše Mountains. At house number 26 stands the protected small-leaved memorial linden tree “Šrůtkova lípa”, estimated to be over 500 years old. It has a trunk circumference of 688 cm and is 24 m tall.

Culture and History

The Church of Saint Wenceslas (Kostel sv. Václava) stands on a prominent spur surrounded by the Židovka stream, on the site of a former cemetery. It was built in 1675 as a Baroque replacement for an earlier wooden church dating from before 1354. Machov’s square is also home to the Baroque Marian Column “Mariánský barokní sloup” from 1761, created by Bartoloměj Henrich.

Sport Throughout the Year

“Běh na Hejšovinu” is a traditional mountain run and part of the Czech Mountain Running Cup. In winter, Machov has a large number of groomed cross-country ski trails; there is also a ski lift in operation. Machov is associated with Rallye Sudety, a mountain bike ultramarathon considered extreme, or a mountain bike race.
