Culture and History

The Baroque Church of the Holy Spirit in Hořičky was built in 1714–1715 on the site of an earlier Gothic church. Together with its bell tower and surrounding wall, it is a registered cultural monument; the interior contains noteworthy tombstones.

In the 19th century, Hořičky was a popular summer resort visited by numerous interesting personalities. The town’s medical heritage includes the famous bone-setter Antonín Pich, as well as the introduction of modern treatments for bone and joint diseases at the sanatoriums of MUDr. Alois Kutík and MUDr. Kašpar Rosa.

The traditional Hořičská pouť will take place in Hořičky from 22 to 24 May 2026. The festival includes a funfair with carousels and other attractions, as well as stalls selling fairground snacks and other treats.

The Mečov village theatre also stages its own productions together with local residents and professional actors. The Lázně church is also located in the wider regional area around Hořičky.

The nearby area around Hořičky includes Poustka Hill [Brzice] and Kopna Hill [Hajnice-Nesytá].

A blue-marked trail leads from Hořičky’s market square to Barunčina vyhlídka, approximately 700 metres away. The viewpoint is situated at an altitude of 444 metres and has several benches for resting.

North of Hořičky, Barunčina vyhlídka offers views of the Polish table mountains, Náchodsko including Dobrošov and Hejšovina, Adršpašsko, the Orlické hory, Opočno and Česká Skalice.

The mountains Čáp and Jański Wierch are located in the wider regional area around Hořičky.

Getting There

Hořičky can be reached by bus; there is no railway connection.
