Nature and landscape

The landscape of Rychnovek includes Stará Metuje, a protected natural monument in the cadastral area of Rychnovek. More than ten dragonfly species live in its old riverbed. The Úpa River flows north of Rychnovek. Zvolská stráň in Rychnovek is also designated as a significant registered landscape feature.

History and culture

The first documented mention of Rychnovek dates from 1497. In Zvole, a district of Rychnovek, the Church of Saint Justus stands on the site of a former feudal fortress. A catalpa protected as a natural monument stands in the square in front of the church.

Other notable sites are located in various parts of the municipality: In Malá Strana in Rychnovek stands a Baroque stone cross with a small bell tower, while near Na Vokolku there is a chapel of the Virgin Mary. In Zvole, a monument erected in 1926 commemorates the soldiers who fell in the First World War. Also in Zvole stands a stone cross dating from 1861 depicting the martyred Redeemer.

Sports and recreation

The SK Rychnovek sports complex is open mainly during the summer months to residents and visitors of the municipality. It has three clay tennis courts and a multi-purpose court for volleyball and nohejbal. All sports facilities can be reserved. The complex also offers seating and refreshments, including for those taking a cycling tour.

Routes and transport

Rychnovek railway station is located on the Jaroměř–Trutnov line and is the first stop from Jaroměř. The Rychnovek railway halt is located in the center of the municipality. The Church of Saint Justus is approximately 500 meters from the railway halt.

The Kladská stezka project includes a connection from Jaroměř to Rychnovek with a link to the Labská stezka. The first construction phase of the cycle path to Jaroměř was fully completed and successfully approved on February 13.

Historically, the Kladská stezka ran from Jaroměř via Zvole and Doubravice between the Úpa River and the present-day railway line. It connected Bohemia and Silesia.
