Hertvíkovice is located along a former ore route. At the eastern edge of the village, the Luční potok stream springs about 150 m from Road No. 14, runs along this road, and flows into the Čistá stream.

Landscape

The mountain Černá hora is located in the immediate vicinity of Hertvíkovice. The mountains Tetřeví vrch and Jański Wierch are located in the surrounding area. In the wider regional area is the Karkonosze - Łomniczki waterfall.

History and culture

Hertvíkovice is recorded in 1369 in the register of papal tithes (“Registr papežských desátků”). A document dated September 25, 1455, records an agreement concerning the relationship between Hertvíkovice and Mladé Buky.

In the wider regional area around Hertvíkovice are the ruins of Spalona Strażnica, Kreppelhof Castle, and Zamek Chojnik Castle. Lázně Church is located in the vicinity of Hertvíkovice.

Economic history

In 1753, the linen merchant Z. Kühnel exported 20,000 kop of linen from Hertvíkovice. Historical occupations in Hertvíkovice included agriculture, crafts, and later weaving; from the second half of the 19th century, residents also worked in nearby textile and paper factories. The home weaving of linen and cotton was introduced in Hertvíkovice around 1676 by Prince Jan Adolf Schwarzenberg, but later lost importance.
