Radschitz: Hotels and Accommodations

Radčice combines distinctive viewpoints, geological features, and historical traces with a tourist hiking route through the village. From Draha, locally called Bučka, there are views of the Giant Mountains and part of the Jizera Mountains, as well as Kozákov and Suché skály.

Nature

The Radčice–Jirkov–Jílové geological locality comprises a group of abandoned, overgrown, and partly flooded quarries for roofing slate. The age of the slate-bearing rocks in this locality is estimated at 470 to 480 million years. Small ponds were left behind in the former quarries and often serve as natural swimming areas in summer.

Trails

The important Černostudniční hřeben tourist hiking route passes through Radčice. It leads from Berany at the foot of the Jizera Mountains through Radčice toward Kozákov, the highest peak in the Bohemian Paradise. Radčice is a starting point for many excursions in both summer and winter.

History

The first written mention of Radčice dates from 1543. The roofing slate quarried in Radčice was used, among other things, for roofing historic buildings throughout Bohemia. The oldest log cabins in Radčice were arranged in a horseshoe shape. Within the geological locality, the Tlukačka quarry is one of the sites where trace fossils, mollusk fossils, and trilobites have been found.

Getting Around

The IDOL bus route 851 serves the Radčice stop on the connection between Jablonec nad Nisou and Železný Brod.

Traditional halušky and fairground cakes were served at the Rádecká pouť on August 2 and 3, 2025.
