Blatce: Hotels and accommodations

Houska Castle, which can be reached from Blatce, is a Renaissance castle with elements of a Gothic castle. It offers seasonal and permanent exhibitions; cultural events featuring fairs, fencers, dancing, crafts, singing, and music are held there today.

Culture

The original Gothic castle chapel at Houska features wall paintings from the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries. Dantovo Peklo is located outside the main tour route and is visited separately. In its long history, the castle was opened to the general public for the first time in 1999.

The history of Blatce also includes the ruins of the Church of the Holy Trinity. They preserve fragments of the ashlar masonry of a church founded in 1600; after it was demolished in 1830, the fragments were scattered throughout the surrounding area. Blatce is also home to a longitudinally oriented log house. Its decorative carpentry details are particularly prominent on the long veranda and the carved supporting structure; it probably dates from the 19th century.

Nature

Prameny PÅ¡ovky is a small wetland complex near the springs of the PÅ¡ovka River. The area is home to unique invertebrate fauna.

Routes

Two roads lead to Houska Castle: from Blatce or Tubož, and from Kruh. The castle is about 700 meters from the car park; from there, a comfortable ten-minute walk leads to the castle gate.
