Nature
The Swamp National Nature Monument in Doksy protects a peat bog with numerous bodies of water that serves as a habitat for rare and endangered plant and animal species. The Swamp protected area preserves populations of brown beak-sedge (Rhynchospora fusca) and white water lily (Nymphaea candida).
Paths and Educational Trails
The SWAMP educational trail provides information about protected and critically endangered animals and plants, as well as fish farming and pond management at Lake Máchovo jezero, which is part of the SWAMP NNM. The Swamp educational trail is a 15 km route from Doksy via Břehyň and back to Doksy, suitable for pedestrians and cyclists. It also features six information boards about environmental protection at Lake Máchovo jezero.
The 13 km-long, easy Se ÄŒtyÅ™lÃstkem okolo Blaťáku educational trail is a hiking route that begins on KuÅ™ivodská Street in Doksy.
Culture and History
Doksy Castle is located in the city centre, to the northwest below NámÄ›stà Republiky. The Muzeum ÄŒtyÅ™lÃstek is located in Doksy Castle. In June 2020, a tour about the ValdÅ¡tejn family featuring multimedia elements was opened there.
The K. H. Mácha Memorial presents the life and work of the Romantic poet Karel Hynek Mácha, as well as his relationship with the region that inspired his poem Máj. It also includes an exhibition about fishing and fish farming and pond management in the ÄŒeská LÃpa region.
Hospitálek is the oldest surviving building in Doksy. It is a two-storey former log hospital built in 1669.
