Kamenický Šenov has an almost three-hundred-year tradition of uninterrupted crystal chandelier production.

Glass and Architectural History

The permanent exhibition of the Kamenický Šenov Glass Museum traces the development of engraved and cut glass from the 17th century to the present day. It includes historicist crystal chandeliers with pendants and layered light fixtures; the region’s tradition of producing this type of lighting dates back to 1724.

The town’s history also includes the Baroque Church of the Nativity of St John the Baptist in Kamenický Šenov, dating from 1718, as well as the restored Old Cemetery. It contains Rococo and Neoclassical tombstones dating from around the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries.

Nature

Panská skála is a geological formation created by volcanic activity and a typical example of the columnar jointing of basalt. An information centre, car park and refreshment facilities are located near Panská skála.

Walking and Cycling Routes

The Varhany Cycling Trail is an almost 17-kilometre route for pedestrians and cyclists, separated from motor traffic. It follows the former railway line from Česká Lípa to Kamenický Šenov.

The Glass Trail is a 2-kilometre route leading to important sites and monuments in Kamenický Šenov connected with the history of glassmaking.

Museum Railway and Circular Trail

A 4.5-kilometre museum railway dating from 1886 runs along the route below Zámecký vrch to the glassmaking town of Kamenický Šenov. Following the necessary repairs, seasonal museum services with historic steam and motor trains were launched.

The “In the Footsteps of the Railway” circular trail offers the opportunity to travel by historic train through the countryside to Česká Kamenice and back. The circular trail starts and ends at the car park near Panská skála.
