Třinec: Hotels and Accommodation

In Třinec, tangible evidence of industrial and local history meets educational trails, creative activities and sports facilities. The Museum of the Třinec Ironworks and the City of Třinec is open to the public.

Culture and History

The Church of St. Albert in Třinec is a Neo-Gothic church built between 1882 and 1885. The church and the adjacent vicarage have been protected monuments since 2010.

In the Borek district of Třinec is the Vápenná pec Jasiowka lime kiln. Lime was fired there until the 1960s. Dřevěnky na Borku comprises two log houses dating from 1878, which are registered cultural monuments. At Dřevěnky na Borku, visitors can view four residential units and learn how people used to live, work and make a living.

The M. Koperník Observatory opened to the public in 1955; among other things, observations of the Moon are currently carried out there. The Galerie města Třince was established on 1 April 2012 with the aim of creating a professional exhibition space with a curatorial programme in Třinec. Through exhibitions of loaned works, it makes contemporary art publicly accessible. Together with the Malá Galerie in the Třinec Library, it offers art courses and workshops to the public.

Nature and Activities

The Naučná stezka na Jahodné educational trail is 2,700 metres long and leads over Jahodná Hill through its flora and fauna, as well as through forest and meadows. It has 12 stations and starts at the Dolní Lištná, Sosna nemocnice stop, served by bus routes 715 and 701.

The forest observation station in the minigolf and children's rope park complex invites visitors to identify forest animals such as deer, squirrels and foxes and hear their calls through playful observation tasks, a bird silhouette and a mobile app. The children's rope park is a nature-oriented leisure area where participants overcome obstacles made of ropes, nets and wooden beams between the trees. The STARS Třinec minigolf course has 18 holes and is located in Třinec's forest park.

Families and Creativity

PŘIJĎ TVOŘIT is a regular creative workshop for families with children aged 6 to 12. KUKni is a regular meeting for children aged 3 to 6 and their parents at the Třinec Library. The meeting combines working with books with movement and creative activities.

Events

ČteFesT takes place every year around the turn of May and June in the library, in Třinec and in the mountains. Every year, it offers author readings, discussions, workshops, exhibitions, concerts and informal gatherings.

Sports

The WERK ARENA Tour allows visitors to take a comprehensive tour of the home venue of HC Oceláři Třinec. The tour includes the VIP areas except GOLD VIP, the ice rink with the timekeeping box, players' benches and penalty benches, the first team's dressing room with a fitness room, the mixed zone and the press centre. The tour can also be conducted in English or Polish upon request; this must be requested at least one week in advance.

At Javorový, those interested can try paragliding, including tandem flights. There are also ski slopes and cross-country skiing trails for winter activities.
