Hostašovice lies entirely within the Pobeskydí Nature Park. The most important European watershed also runs through Hostašovice – two remarkable geographical features therefore shape the municipality.

Nature

The protected natural monument Prameny Zrzávky is located in the cadastral area of Hostašovice. At Prameny Zrzávky, one spring contains ferrous sulfate, another hydrogen sulfide; a third, separate hydrogen sulfide spring lies 300 meters away.

Prameny Zrzávky can be reached by car without access restrictions; the site is located 250 meters from the road.

At the Jaštěrka spring on Trojačka Mountain, the spring stream divides after a few meters into two branches, each flowing toward a different sea. This geographical phenomenon is called bifurcation.

History and culture

The Chapel of Saints Cyril and Methodius was built in 1850 and consecrated on October 17 of the same year. A sandstone cross was made in 1876 by stonemason Josef Leidi for 100 gulden.

Buckwheat is still milled in Hostašovice today, and people from the surrounding area also buy it there.

Trails

The František Palacký educational trail has 21 to 22 stations with information boards and focuses on the nature, history, geology, and landscape of Podbeskydí.

The “Koleje” cycling route runs from Nový Jičín to Hostašovice railway station. It is easy, has only slight inclines, and is also suitable for families with children.

Other places

Štramberk, Jakubčovice Nad Odrou, Hurka, Šenov U Nového Jičína, Frenstat Pod Radhostem, Veřovice, Ženklava, Bílovec
