Jeseník Nad Odrou: Hotels and Accommodation
Jeseník nad Odrou lies in the southwestern part of the Poodří Protected Landscape Area. Natural monuments, historic buildings and various trails define the themes that come together in the town and its surroundings.
Nature
Meandry Staré Odry is a natural monument. It protects a remnant of the Oder’s original, highly meandering riverbed with numerous seasonal pools and riparian vegetation. Travelling through the natural monument in motor vehicles is prohibited.
Culture and History
A stone cross dating from 1822 stands by the church. It is of local origin and provides evidence of the continuation of the Baroque sculptural tradition in the 19th century. The statue of Saint John of Nepomuk on the village square is considered one of the earliest depictions of its kind in North Moravia; it was erected before his canonisation.
The chateau and estate in Jeseník nad Odrou were built by Rudolf svobodný pán z Wittenu. Visitors can currently enjoy the chateau’s historic atmosphere and dine in the restaurant and outdoor area of the chateau park.
The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary stands on the site of a wooden church that burned down in 1710. Its nave was added in 1752 at the expense of František Rheinold z Andlernu. The Chapel of Saint Anne stands in the centre of Jeseník nad Odrou next to House No. 8. It has an elongated shape, a slightly narrower and recessed semicircular termination, a volute gable and a small roof turret with a lantern.
Trails
The Stezka krajinou povodní trail is suitable for pedestrians as well as cyclists with trekking or mountain bikes. The trail passes through the Oder floodplain landscape between Jeseník, Bernartice and Suchdol nad Odrou.
Along the Cyklostezka Okolo Poodří cycle trail, eight information panels describe the natural, landscape and cultural features of Poodří. The easy cycling route is also suitable for families with children. Jeseník nad Odrou is a railway connection point on this cycle trail.
Františkova cesta begins in Jeseník nad Odrou-Blahutovice and is an easy circular trail of approximately 4.5 km with 10 stops. This meditative spiritual educational trail follows motifs from the Canticle of the Sun by Saint Francis of Assisi and leads through Blahutovice and its surroundings.
