Culture and history

Evidence of prehistoric settlement has been found in Býškovice. This includes remains and complete urns found at several sites in the cadastral area, various pounders, and stone axes from the Silesian Urnfield culture.

The first historically documented written mention of Býškovice dates from 1131 and names the village as the property of St. Wenceslas Church in Olomouc. At the lower end of the village stands a monument unveiled in 1927 to the soldiers who fell in the First World War. A statue of Saint John of Nepomuk stands in front of the Chapel of Saint Anne.

The traditional bear-leading custom is maintained in Býškovice. The traditional July festival hody is also maintained.
