Klopotovice: Hotels and Accommodations

Klopotovice combines a flat, agriculturally shaped landscape with religious and historical monuments. The village lies on the edge of the Upper Moravian Valley and showcases its distinctive features both in its natural surroundings and in its numerous cultural traces.

Landscape

Klopotovice lies on the edge of the Upper Moravian Valley on highly fertile chernozem soils and has only a small proportion of forest. The cadastral area is flat; the elevation difference is up to 10 metres. Agriculture shapes the village.

The Blata River crosses the cadastral area from northwest to southeast over a total length of 3 kilometres; its water surface covers 3 hectares.

Road connections from Klopotovice lead towards Prostějov, Přerov and Olomouc. The motorway towards Brno–Olomouc is 10 kilometres from Klopotovice in the direction of Prostějov.

Culture

The Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk in Klopotovice was built and consecrated in 1810 and is registered as a cultural monument. It has a recessed pentagonal presbytery and a prismatic bell tower. The chapel grounds include a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk from 1740; at the chapel, it stands on a prismatic pedestal. The monument to Saint John of Nepomuk was restored in 1740 and moved to its present location.

Several religious works of art in Klopotovice commemorate different periods and benefactors. The statue of the Svatý Kopeček Madonna was erected in May 1946 at the site of a destroyed cross and commemorates the devastation of Klopotovice at the end of the Second World War in May 1945. The statue of the Hostýn Madonna was commissioned at the end of the 19th century by František and Františka Klobouk; its creator was A. Beck from Kroměříž. The statue of the Virgin Mary in Klopotovice is a monument of local significance.

The Pietà depicts Our Lady of Sorrows with the dead Jesus Christ, taken down from the cross, on her lap. The married couple Krátký from Klopotovice had it made in 1898 in honour and praise of the Virgin Mary.

The composer and organist Václav Plachý was born in Klopotovice on 4 September 1785.

History

The Freedom Monument from 1922 commemorates the inhabitants of Klopotovice who fell in the First World War and the local legionnaires. The sandstone monument is dedicated to Prussian Major Eduard von Behr and is associated with the Prussian-Austrian Battle of Tovačov on 15 July 1866.

The crosses outside the village centre also have their own historical associations. Kloboukův kříž is a cross from 1912 and stands beside a field path from Klopotovice to the Tovačov–Prostějov road. The cross from 1882 stands beside a field path leading to Tovačov. The cross from 1855 marked a place for a dignified farewell to the deceased.

The main cross in the Klopotovice cemetery is a monument of local significance. The monument to the war victims in the centre of Klopotovice is also a monument of local significance.
