Culture and History
Stone tools dating from the Upper Paleolithic were found at the Přísahanec archaeological site; they are attributed to the Aurignacian culture. The medieval fortification of Hausberk stood in the Zámčisko area on the northern edge of the Záhoří forest and was surrounded by a rampart and a moat. Of the 14th-century fortress in Pavlovice, a levelled residential platform and, to the east, a still discernible remnant of a moat approximately 1 metre deep have survived.
The present-day Church of St. Giles was built in 1885–1886; the tower from 1555 survived from the earlier building. Next to the staircase leading to the Church of St. Giles in Pavlovice stand two Baroque sandstone statues: one of Saint John of Nepomuk and one of Blessed John Sarkander. Three historical gravestones that have survived to this day are displayed in the entrance area of the Church of St. Giles. The listed ensemble of three Baroque statues in Pavlovice documents the development of sculpture in the Olomouc region during the second quarter of the 18th century.
The chateau complex of Pavlovice u Přerova was built by Baron Alfred Skene. The Pavlovice chateau complex includes a Neo-Gothic pleasure pavilion and an entrance gate known as “Předzámčí”. The chateau of Pavlovice u Přerova has been protected as a cultural monument since 2 February 1994 under registration number ÚSKP 10334/8-3535.
