Oplocany: Hotels and accommodations
Oplocany combines traces of prehistoric times with a clearly recognizable townscape and a long, documented history. A human settlement existed near the Valová River around 2500 BC; Oplocany was first mentioned in written sources in 1131.
Townscape and sacred buildings
The Oplocany bell tower stands in the village square. In 2015, it was repaired with the support of the Czech Ministry for Regional Development. The local traditions and architectural history also include the Chapel of St. Arnošt in Oplocany, which was repaired as part of a project listed for 2024 to 2025 and co-financed by the Czech Ministry of Agriculture. In the Oplocany district of Arnoštov, there is a chapel in front of house no. 144.
The statue of Saint Florian is registered as a cultural monument and was restored in recent times. The sandstone figure is a Baroque work from the mid-18th century and is said to have been created by the Moravian sculptor and stucco artist Gottfried Fritsche from Tovačov.
Landscape and geographical surroundings
The Viklička watercourse crosses the cadastral area of Oplocany in the southern part of the municipality. The mountain Předina is located nearby. The monuments Socha sv. Jana Nepomuckého and Pomník obětem 1. světové války are also located in the surrounding area.
The landscape feature Zadní Díly, a hill near Uhřičice, is located in the immediate surroundings. The mountains Chlum and Horka are located farther away in the wider region. The ruins of Hrádek and Kuchlov are also located there.
Historical traces and production
A cooperative dairy began operating in the former Oplocanský Mill building on November 15, 1909. From 1936 onward, Tvarůžky were also produced in the former mill building.
