Čehovice: Hotels and Accommodation

In the village square of Čehovice stands the Church of Saint Procopius, regarded as the centrepiece of the square and the oldest monument in the municipality. It is a single-nave, oriented Baroque church dating from 1788–1789; the present church was built in 1789 using material from the old church.

Culture and History

The Church of Saint Procopius is surrounded by a well-maintained park with mature trees. A parish feast mass is usually celebrated in the church on the Sunday closest to the feast day of Saint Procopius on 4 July.

On Stráž Hill stands the small Chapel of Saint Procopius, bearing the date 1634. It commemorates the original site of Čehovice. After the village was presumably destroyed in wartime, it was rebuilt about 1 km lower down, near the Vřesůvka River. The area in front of the chapel is occasionally used for outdoor weddings.

The fields around Čehovice also point to an older settlement history: In “Poblatí”, a gold hoard from the Middle Danubian Tumulus Culture was discovered in 1947; it consisted of several gold wires and decorated gold foils. In the “Jelítka” fields, extensive pottery assemblage from the same period was unearthed during deep ploughing in 1920.

Nature and Circular Trail

The Vřesůvka stream flows along the edge of Čehovice. The Čehovice educational trail has six information boards covering the wetland biocorridor, the history of the village and the municipality’s cultural monuments. It forms a circular route suitable for walks and cycling trips.

Geographical Location

The 1.734 km-long section of the cycle path from Bedihošť to Čehovice runs alongside the railway line. Road II/367 passes through Bedihošť, Čehovice and Čelčice and is the only direct connection between these municipalities and Prostějov; cyclists also use it.
