Hrubčice: Hotels and Accommodation

Hrubčice is located in the fertile Haná region. The village’s history is reflected in buildings and monuments from various centuries; in addition, the Bedihošť–Hrubčice cycle path is signposted with the vertical C8a and C8b traffic signs.

Culture and History

The first mention of the church in Hrubčice dates back to 1605. The Church of St. Urban, “Filiální kostel sv. Urbana,” was built as a Baroque structure in 1755 and 1756 and dedicated to Saint Urban. It stands outside the village, with a cemetery surrounding it. Inside, it has a main altar and three side altars dedicated to Saint Barbara, Our Lady of Lourdes, Saint Elizabeth, Saint Zacharias, and John the Baptist. A stone cross dating from 1857 stands in front of the church.

The “Hrubecký zámek” château was built in the 16th century as a late Renaissance structure. Around 1700, it was rebuilt with Baroque elements; a balustrade staircase leading from the park to the upper floor was also added.

The tall, four-sided bell tower in Hrubčice stands in the centre of the village and was built in 1769. The bell tower was renovated in 1997. The Chapel of Saints Cyril and Methodius, “Kaple sv.Cyrila a Metoděje,” was built in 1887 to commemorate the settlement’s 100th anniversary and completed a year later. It was consecrated on 27 July 1888.

The stone cross in Hrubčice is about four metres high and dates from 1898. Its niches contain statues of Our Lady of Sorrows, Saint Joseph, and Saint Aloysius Gonzaga. The stone statues of Saint Florian and Saint John of Nepomuk date from 1736. They originally stood on the village square on either side of the road; this place was formerly known as “U svatých.”
