Tovéř lies at the foot of the Nízký Jeseník between Olomouc and Šternberk, 8 km northeast of Olomouc city centre and below the basilica on Svatý Kopeček.

History and Townscape

The first documented mention of Tovéř dates from around 1203. Farmstead No. 11 is a remarkable example of the original local architectural style. At House No. 11, there is a sandstone arcade with nine arches.

The Chapel of Saints Cyril and Methodius in Tovéř village square dates from 1844. A stone wayside cross in Tovéř dates from 1862. The chapel has been illuminated; its surroundings have been given a granite-cube surface and new furnishings.
