Banín: Hotels and Accommodation

The protected Church of St. Barbara in Banín is a Gothic building made of rubble granite, first mentioned in 1350; its tower was built in 1559.

Culture and History

The complex of St. Barbara’s Church is surrounded by a cemetery wall. In the east, a bell tower is integrated into the wall and also serves as a gateway.

In 1293, King Wenceslaus donated Banín and Německá Bělá, as part of the Svojanov crown estate, to Zbraslav Monastery. Historically, Banín had predominantly German-speaking inhabitants; after the founding of Czechoslovakia, the village had a German school and a Czech minority school.

During or shortly after the Thirty Years’ War, a settlement at the place now called “na Babičce” disappeared. During the Second World War, the border between the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia and the German Reich ran near Banín in the direction of Rohozná.

According to local tradition, a sow dug up a bell at “na Babičce” that allegedly came from the tower of the church of the vanished settlement.

A rural farm complex in Banín is a closed courtyard with a small inner courtyard as well as residential and farm buildings. It is accessed through a gate and a pedestrian entrance.

In the wider regional area around Banín are the Chapel of the Virgin Mary, the Chapel of the Sacred Heart, the Chapel of Our Lady of Lourdes, and the Chapel of St. Anne.

Banínský vrch hill is located in the immediate vicinity of Banín. The mountains of Drašarov, Librův Kopec, and Kočíko are also located in the area around the village.

Cycle Route 4201 runs via Hradec nad Svitavou, Banín, Bělá nad Svitavou, and Bohuňov.
