Oldris: Hotels and accommodations

The southern part of Oldřiš lies in the Žďárské vrchy Protected Landscape Area. The northern part is completely forested and is formed by Královec Forest.

Nature and waterways

Oldřiš lies in the valley of the Černý potok, one of the tributaries of the nearby Svratka in the Morava river basin. The southern tip of Oldřiš consists of a continuous forest area known as Žleby Forest. At the U zbořených mostů locality, there is a pond where two stone arches of an old bridge connecting Oldřiš and Široký Důl have been preserved. The U Třech buků locality is connected with the picturesque forest corners of Dolní Štamberk Forest.

Hiking and cycling

“Cesta za Oldřišským pokladem” is a six-kilometre treasure-hunt hike for school-age children and adults. It takes approximately four to five hours, is not suitable for strollers, and requires sturdy footwear. The hike begins at Můj obchod at the lower end of Oldřiš; the instructions are available in a black box. It ends at the Oldřiš Municipal Office, where a treasure chest awaits participants.

Cycle route 4022 passes through Oldřiš and runs from Polička via Sádek and Oldřiš to Borová.

Culture and architecture

Oldřiš is home to traditional farmsteads of the “poličské dvorce” type, built half of wood and half of masonry. The Orlovna was opened on September 28, 1929; its façade features a depiction of Saint Wenceslas on horseback.

Oldřiš’s sights include Boží muka, traditional roadside chapels or wayside shrines. The wayside cross near Roušar, which had been damaged by a falling tree during a storm, was restored in 2014 and returned to its original location.

The Chapel of St. Francis of Assisi can be used for weddings and other religious and civil ceremonies by arrangement with the mayor. It contains marble sourced directly from the Monte Subasio mountain range.

Oldřiš railway station is integrated into the IREDO public transport system.
