Culture and History

The Chapel of Saints Peter and Paul dates from 1839 and features a newly restored interior. House No. 85 has a gable with an inscription carved into a plank dating from 1866. The nobleman “Čeněk of Desná” is mentioned as early as 1293.

Trails

Neither a marked hiking trail nor a marked cycle path passes through Desná.

Events

“Vítání prázdnin” is a recurring community event in Desná. The programme of “Vítání prázdnin” in 2026 included physical activities for children, including catching small fish, air-rifle shooting, crawling and floorball.

The “O pohár obce Desná” competition is part of the Svitavy District League in firefighting sport. The firefighting attack competition “O pohár obce Desná” was scheduled to take place in 2026 as its 22nd edition.

“Pálení čarodějnic” is considered a traditional event at Desná’s sports ground. “Zpívání u jesliček” includes performances by children and Christmas carols; at the same time, it is a traditional gathering at Desná’s municipal nativity scenes.

Mulled wine and refreshments were offered at the third edition of “Svařákobraní”. A competition called “Desenský duel” was scheduled as the elimination final in the parallel attack.
