Karle: Hotels and Accommodation

Karle combines local history with a clearly defined landscape: the Loučná rises here, while Svatá Trojice lies at the edge of the forest on the Javornický Ridge.

History and Culture

The Gothic Church of Saint Bartholomew in Karle is first mentioned as early as 1340. It stands on the northern side of an enclosed cemetery; a mortuary is located on the cemetery’s eastern perimeter wall.

The Cyril and Methodius Chapel stands in Karle near Ostrý Kámen. It is a late Baroque filial chapel from the second half of the 18th century. The area around Karle was probably settled earlier in connection with the Trstenická Road.

Svatá Trojice was a destination for pilgrims. The place called Svatá Trojice is named after a sandstone statue from 1823.

Source Area

A monument called “Kapka” stands at the source area of the Loučná in Karle. This source area includes a natural stone wall with built-in benches for resting.

Trails and Landscape

The “Na pomezí Čech a Moravy” educational trail leads to Svatá Trojice as its fifth stop. A green-marked hiking trail also leads from Ostrý Kámen to Kukle and on to Svatá Trojice. The “Na pomezí Čech a Moravy” educational trail leads to Nejsvětější Trojice; from there, Ostrý Kámen and Svitavy can be seen.

In winter, a marked cross-country skiing route leads to Svatá Trojice. A hexagonal wooden shelter with a bench and a map of the cross-country ski trails in the Svitavy region stands near Svatá Trojice. Also near Svatá Trojice is an information board with a panoramic photograph and descriptions of the places visible on the horizon.
