Černíkov: Hotels and accommodations

Černíkov lies at the foot of Malý Kouřim Mountain and at the end of a broad, flat valley that gradually rises to the north. On its eastern side, the valley is bordered by a forested massif on Velký Bítov Mountain.

Landscape and trails

The hilly surroundings of Černíkov are suitable for cycling tourism. The “What Lies Beyond Černíkov’s Backyards” educational trail is five kilometres long. In the vicinity of Černíkov, there is also a designated virtual circuit through Černíkov, Pušperk, Ruchomperk and Stará Ves.

History

The ruins of Ruchomperk Castle are located in Černíkov. They were probably built at the end of the 12th century on the site of a prehistoric fortification. The ruins have an oval or rectangular layout and are surrounded on three sides by a massive moat and an outer rampart. A transverse moat divides the inner layout of Ruchomperk into two areas. The site is covered with mature deciduous forest.

The ruins of Pušperk Castle lie on a hill about 2 km from Černíkov and were first mentioned in 1266. The first written mention of Černíkov dates from 1379. The former Černíkov fortress stood by the village pond next to the village square and was last mentioned as abandoned in 1592.

Surroundings and practical information

Černíkov has regular bus connections to Kdyně, Domažlice and Klatovy. Úžlebec is located in the vicinity of Černíkov and is considered a camping site with swimming facilities. Úžlebec covers 2.3 hectares, of which 0.8 hectares are water surfaces. Access to the site is currently prohibited and the site is closed.
