Mokrosuky: Hotels and Accommodation

Mokrosuky Castle is a former water fortress that was built around the 15th century and transformed in 1579 by Volf Gothard of Perglas into a two-wing Renaissance castle with an arcaded façade and sgraffito decoration.

Culture and History

The Mokrosuky Castle complex is listed in the Central Register of Cultural Monuments. A semicircular niche remnant from the former castle chapel of Mokrosuky has been preserved between the northern and southern sides of the castle.

On Site

At Mokrosuky Castle, guided tours with commentary by the owner are offered, providing information about the castle’s history, its present-day life and its reconstruction. The interactive armoury and the exhibition on historical fencing allow visitors to touch some of the exhibits.

The castle grounds and castle park are freely accessible during opening hours; there are also games for children. During events at Mokrosuky Castle, visitors can sample bread baked directly in the castle oven.

Routes

Mokrosuky Castle lies on the route between the three Šumava castles of Rabí, Velhartice and Kašperk. The “Cestou menhirů” hiking trail leads from Mokrosuky to Lešišov, follows a path lined with menhirs, is 6.7 kilometres long and leads to a highland water reservoir.
