Strašín: Hotels and Accommodations

The Strašín Cave, also known as Nezdická Cave, is one of the largest caves in the Pošumaví region. It is a fissure cave formed in crystalline limestone. It is closed until further notice; its cave chambers are not yet accessible to the public.

Culture and History

In Maleč, a district of Strašín, the Baroque Chapel of St. Anne stands on the village square between four linden trees. It is protected as a cultural monument. The stone well in Strašín was declared a cultural monument in 2004. The former ossuary next to the church contains wall paintings dating back to 1750. Karel Klostermann’s novel Hostinný dům is also set in Strašín.

Trails

The Věštínská Chapel is located one kilometre north of Strašín. The existing stone structure dates from the first half of the 19th century. In 2025, the chapel was restored and made accessible by local patriots; it serves as a spiritual site and a destination for walks. The walk to the Věštínská Chapel is also suitable for bicycles and strollers.

The Czech section of the Lamberská Trail in the Pošumaví region is an almost 50-kilometre circular route that can be completed in stages. The Lamberská Trail passes through Strašín, where the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary is located near the town centre.

Nature

South of Strašín lies the Mrazové srázy u Lazen nature monument. It protects a pronounced frost slope with a block field, a geomorphological feature characteristic of the development of the Šumava region.
