Culture and History

The Church of St. Bartholomew in Kvášňovice was built between 1240 and 1260 in the late Romanesque style and remodelled in the Baroque style between 1751 and 1768. Its south side features a Romanesque entrance portal. In front of the local church stands a monument to the fallen soldiers, unveiled in 1922.

North of the Church of St. Bartholomew stands a statue of St. John of Nepomuk, dating from 1832. It was erected in gratitude that an epidemic had spared the village. The history of the village also includes the Kvášňovice Volunteer Fire Brigade, founded in 1896. The Neoclassical cemetery chapel in Kvášňovice was built in 1800.

Nature

The Kvášňovická lípa is a protected memorial tree, first designated on 26 May 1978. Along the field road from Kvášňovice to Defurovy Lažany grows a protected large-leaved lime tree with a height of 23 metres, a trunk circumference of 383 centimetres and an estimated age of 270 years.

Local Life

The traditional Masopust celebration in Kvášňovice includes a masked procession. The village also has a children’s playground and a table tennis table.
