Benešovice: Hotels and Accommodations

Two cycling routes pass through Benešovice. Cycling route No. 2203 runs through Damnov, Benešovice and Vrbice u Stříbra and is 18 km long. Route 2211 runs through Prostiboř, Brod u Stříbra, Výrov, Benešovice, Lom u Stříbra and Svojšín and is 17.5 km long.

History and Culture

In the Middle Ages, Benešovice lay on a trade route between Prague and Nuremberg that was called the Golden Road during the time of Charles IV. Because of its economically significant location, the nearby monastery in Kladruby sought to acquire Benešovice and disputed ownership of it with the nobility for centuries. It is considered likely that Benešovice developed there because of this road, despite the area's damp and infertile soil.

The Chapel of the Virgin Mary is located in Benešovice. It was relocated in 1974; at the time, this served as a dress rehearsal for the relocation of the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Most. The war memorial in Benešovice was erected in the 1920s in memory of 14 residents who did not return from the First World War.

Landscape

The D5 runs through Benešovice. Otherwise, the surrounding area appears as a rather sparsely populated landscape with forests, fields and villages surrounded by nature, which has so far been little discovered by tourism.

Today, Benešovice invites visitors to enjoy peaceful walks and cycling tours. The absence of large hills is considered favorable for less-trained cyclists and hikers. In the immediate vicinity of Benešovice lies Výrovský rybník, hidden in the forest and visited as a natural swimming area.
