Kladruby U Stříbra: Hotels and Accommodations

At Kladruby Monastery, the main guided tour introduces visitors to the lives of the monks in the Baroque Benedictine monastery. It presents their accommodation, meals, spiritual life, work, and leisure. The restored areas of the new and old convents, as well as the cloister courtyard, are included in the tour.

Culture and History

Kladruby u Stříbra Benedictine Monastery was founded in 1115 by the Bohemian Duke Vladislav I. A second tour focuses on the history of the Windischgrätz family, Alfred I and his wife Eleonore, as well as the economic use of the former monastic estate. The tour also includes the original interior of the Princes' Library from the first half of the 20th century.

The Kladrubsko Regional Museum presents an exhibition on Kladruby's 900-year history. It covers the period from the monastery's foundation in 1115 to 1945. The new “Klášter” and “Zámek” sightseeing routes at the monastery were opened to visitors on April 1, 2023.

Kladrubské hudební léto takes place annually in summer in the cathedral in Kladruby.

Fortifications and Regional History

The Museum of Czechoslovak Fortifications in Kladruby consists of two light fortification structures of the vz. 37 type. They were built in 1938 as the first line of defense against Nazi Germany and are located in the immediate vicinity of Kladruby Monastery.

The Kladrubsko Regional Museum also has an exhibition on the fortification system in the Kladruby area. It features exhibits on the construction of light fortifications, as well as information about structures in the surrounding area and tips for excursions.

Circular Trails and Long-Distance Routes

The Kladruby nature and history trail begins at Kladruby Monastery. The Kladruby circular trail covers the geology of the Úhlavka River, the mills on the Úhlavka, and the topic of fishing.

Several long-distance routes pass by Kladruby Monastery: long-distance cycle route No. 37, the international E6 hiking trail, and the Way of St. James to Santiago de Compostela.
